Record a mix

Want to capture your DJ set? djay Pro lets you easily record your mix so you can share it, listen back for practice, or upload it to your favorite platforms. This section covers how to start and stop a recording, choose your format, and what to keep in mind when using streaming tracks.

How to record an audio mix

  1. Click the red record button (●) at the top left of the main window.
  2. When the pop-up appears, click Start New Audio Recording to begin.
  3. When recording starts, a timer appears next to the button to show that recording is in progress.

  4. To stop the recording, click the record button again (it will now be showing the stop symbol) and click Stop recording.
  5. Your recording will be saved in the recording menu.

Remember to stop the recording before closing djay. If you close djay without stopping the recording, the file may become corrupted.

Recording formats

  • AAC – compressed format that uses less storage.
  • WAV – uncompressed format for higher quality.

You can choose to record just the audio output or both the video and audio.

You can't record mixes that include streamed tracks from Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Beatport/Beatsource, or SoundCloud. If you're recording a mix, streaming libraries and the mix recorder will be disabled.
