djay supports external screens and projectors across macOS, iOS, Windows, Android, Vision Pro, and Meta Quest. Depending on your device, you can connect using HDMI, USB-C display output, AirPlay, or wireless casting. This guide explains the supported methods on each platform and provides clear steps for getting your visuals or video mix onto an external display.

You can connect an external screen or projector to djay using HDMI, AirPlay, or Universal Control with an iPad.
Connection options
- HDMI: Plug your display directly into your Mac using an HDMI cable or USB-C adapter.
- AirPlay: Use macOS Displays settings to select an AirPlay device.
- iPad (Universal Control): Use your iPad as a secondary screen.
How to connect
- Open System Settings > Displays on your Mac.
- Confirm that both screens are detected. If they overlap, right-click and select Stop Mirroring.
- In djay, open Video mode, then click the screen icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select your external screen and choose Show to start outputting visuals.
For smoother playback, disable Screen Mirroring and keep your Mac connected via wired HDMI when possible.
You can display your djay video mix on an external screen or projector using either HDMI or AirPlay.

For stable performance, use a wired connection during live shows instead of AirPlay.

How to connect with wireless casting
- Open your Android settings.
- Tap Connected devices or Screen cast (the name can vary by manufacturer).
- Select your TV, display, or wireless receiver from the list.
- Wait for the connection to complete. Your device screen will be mirrored.
When you mirror on Android, djay only shares what you see in the app interface. djay video playback and dedicated external video output are not currently supported on Android.
You can share what you see in djay on Apple Vision Pro to another device using AirPlay mirroring. This lets others view your djay session on a supported display.
How to mirror your view
- Make sure both your Vision Pro and the other device have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on and are on the same network.
- Open Control Center in Vision Pro.
- Tap Mirror My View, then choose the device you want to mirror to.
- To stop sharing, open Control Center again, tap Mirror My View, then tap Stop Mirroring.
Only the djay interface you see in Vision Pro will be mirrored. Protected video content and external video output are not supported.

You can share what you see in djay on your Meta Quest headset to another screen by using the built-in casting feature. This allows others to view your djay session from your headset in real time.

- Cast to a phone: Use the Meta Horizon app on your phone.
- Cast to a computer or TV: Cast directly from your headset to a browser or compatible display on the same Wi-Fi network.
How to cast from your headset
- Put on your headset and press the Meta button on your right controller to open the universal menu.
- Select the clock on the left-hand side to open Quick settings.
- Tap Cast, then choose your casting destination (Mobile, Web, or another nearby device).
- Select Next, then follow the on-screen instructions to begin casting.
How to cast from your phone
- Make sure your headset and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Meta Horizon app on your phone.
- Tap Devices, then select Cast.
- Follow the prompts to start casting your view.
Casting mirrors exactly what you see inside your headset, including the djay interface. Dedicated external video playback or projection is not currently supported.
