Connecting a MIDI controller

Using a MIDI controller with djay Pro gives you hands-on control over your mix, from triggering cue points to adjusting EQ and effects in real time. Thanks to plug-and-play support, officially supported controllers work right out of the box.

You can view the full list of officially supported controllers on the DJ Gear page. Setting up an officially supported controller is quick and easy thanks to plug-and-play support.

Connecting a MIDI controller

How to connect a supported MIDI controller

  1. Make sure djay Pro is open and ready.
  2. Connect your controller via an available USB port and power it on using the ON/OFF switch or power button.
  3. When the controller is detected, follow the on-screen instructions or go to Settings > MIDI Devices.
  4. You should now be able to control djay Pro using your hardware.

When you connect a controller, djay will automatically apply your last saved audio configuration that includes the connected controller. This ensures your setup always works out of the box.

note

In some cases, you may need to adjust the audio routing manually—for example, if your setup routes all audio through a different audio interface than the connected controller. If your configuration doesn’t load as expected, check that it includes the connected controller.

tip

If your preferred controller isn’t supported, you can still use it with djay by mapping it manually. djay Pro supports a wide range of MIDI-compatible devices through its built-in MIDI mapping system. Go to the MIDI Mapping section for more details.
