Getting interrupted by a call, message, or system alert during a DJ set can disrupt your flow.
This guide shows you how to silence notifications, reduce distractions, and keep your device performance-ready while using djay.

Preparing your Mac for uninterrupted DJing
Enable a DJing Focus mode
- Open System Settings > Focus.
- Tap +, choose Custom, and name it DJing.
- Set Allowed Notifications for both People and Apps to None.
- Turn off Time Sensitive Notifications.
- (Optional) Set the Focus mode to activate automatically when you open djay.

If you already created a DJing Focus mode on your iPhone or iPad, it will automatically sync to your Mac if you’re using the same Apple ID.
Additional tips for uninterrupted DJing on macOS
- Go to System Settings > Sound > Sound Effects and turn off Play user interface sound effects.
- Reduce or mute the Alert volume slider.
- Quit messaging apps such as iMessage, Slack, or Discord.
- Disable features like Time Machine backups or other scheduled notifications.
- Keep your Mac connected to power throughout your performance.
Preparing your iPhone or iPad for uninterrupted DJing
Enable a DJing Focus mode

- Flip the Silent/Ring switch (iPhone 14 and earlier) to silent.
- On iPhone 15 and later, press and hold the Action button to toggle silent mode.
- Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and turn off Keyboard Clicks, Lock Sound, and Haptics.
- Set Auto-Lock to Never in Settings > Display & Brightness.

- Press Windows + N or click the notification icon in the taskbar.
- Tap the Do Not Disturb (bell) icon.
- Open Settings > System > Notifications, and set Priority notifications to None.
- Enable automatic Do Not Disturb when using full-screen apps or presenting.

- Go to Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings.
- In the Sounds tab, choose No Sounds as the Sound Scheme and click Apply.
