The Files collection in the music library browser allows easy access to songs from external media sources (e.g., USB sticks or hard drives) in djay for iOS. From here, you can also access your tracks from iCloud Drive and the Files app.
Please note that the Files collection is only available in djay iOS 3.2 or later, with an active djay Pro subscription, and requires an iPhone running iOS 13 (or later) or iPad running iPadOS 13 (or later).
Just follow these steps to get started:
- Connect your external media source to your iOS device using the appropriate adapter, e.g., a Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter or USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter (depending on your iOS device connector).
- Select the Files tab in the music library browser in djay, then tap the "+" in the upper left corner.
- Select the source from which you wish to play or add tracks in the pop-up window. Please note, from here you have the option to add complete top-level folders (e.g., USB DISK) or sub-folders. Select the one you would like to add and tap "Done".
You now have access to all of your added songs within the Files collection of the music library browser.
If you add your complete iCloud Drive folder or a sub-folder from iCloud Drive, please note that you will first need to download the songs to your iPad or iPhone before you can play them in djay.
Please note that adding tracks to djay for iOS only saves a reference to the original source where the file is stored. It does not duplicate or move your music files.
