Understanding the main toolbar
If you're new to DJing or just getting started with djay, here’s a quick look at the features in the main toolbar to help you start mixing with confidence. We’ll explore more advanced tools and settings throughout the manual.
Main toolbar
Let’s break down what each of the icons in the main toolbar does.

Main settings
Adjust the main output volume, configure settings, enable Ableton Link, and more.
Mix recorder
Open the toolbar for recording audio or video.
Tools bar
Use the tools bar to access creative performance features like Cue Points, Loops, and Beatgrid Editor. These tools help you shape, control, and personalize your mix.
FX bar
Reveal the effects bar to access controls for triggering, adjusting, and combining audio and visual effects to shape your mix and transitions.
Neural Mix™ bar
Show or hide the toolbar for djay’s Neural Mix™ stem separation technology.
Sampler
Opens the Sampler to trigger one-shot sounds and audio clips in sync with your mix.
Looper
Launches the Looper to build loops and layered patterns in real time.
The icon in the main toolbar will show either the Sampler or Looper, depending on which one you used most recently.
Tools
Another way to access performance features found in the Tools bar.
The Tools icon will look different based on your selected view mode.
Waveforms
Show or hide the waveform display for the tracks currently loaded in each deck.
View modes
Customize deck displays and access additional deck settings.
The view modes icon will look different based on your selected deck layout.
