In djay Pro for Mac, you can add your own audio samples by customizing an existing Sampler Pack or by adding your own Custom Pack.
Customizing an Existing Sampler Pack
To customize an existing Sampler Pack in djay, follow these steps:
- Open the Sampler/Looper to the top right side of the djay Pro screen.
- Below the crossfader, select the Sampler (not the Looper).
- Choose any Sampler Pack you'd like to customize from the Sampler Pack menu.
- Click on the pencil icon, and then you'll see three dots appear on each of the sampler slots which allow you to edit them individually. At this point, you can edit any of the slots to add one of several sample options.
-
The first option is to add samples from the Future Loops Sampler Packs that you already have downloaded in djay.
- The second option is to directly record a sample from your microphone or one of the decks by clicking and holding the desired button. Note: Due to licensing agreements, it's not possible to record samples from tracks from streaming services.
- The third option for adding samples is to select one from the My Samples section located in the Sample Pack drop-down. From here, you can choose from the list of samples you've already created/added in djay, or you can add any sample file you'd like from your computer by selecting (+) just below the list. A Finder window will appear that allows you to choose any sample file to import into djay. To remove a sample from My Samples, select it and then click the (-) button.
Creating Your Own Custom Pack
To add your own Custom Pack of samples in djay, follow these steps:
- Open the Sampler/Looper to the top right side of the djay Pro screen.
- Below the crossfader, select the Sampler (not the Looper).
- Open the Sampler Pack drop-down menu, click the (+), and then select Add Custom Pack. You'll see the new Sample Pack appear in the list of sample packs, and you have the opportunity to name it anything you'd like, e.g., "custom", as shown here.
- You can rename or delete a custom sample pack by opening the drop-down menu next to the name of the pack.
- After selecting the pencil icon, you'll see a three-dot icon appear on each of the sampler slots to allow you to edit them individually. Now, you can add one of the several sample options described in the Customizing an Existing Sampler Pack (steps 5-7) section above.
